Spotlighting: Lisa May

For this month of October 2017; our ‘Interview Spotlight’ is shining on the singer, Lisa May who I had the great opportunity of interviewing for our magazine.

Who Is Lisa May: Lisa May is a Georgian born (March 20, 1994), aspiring singer and songwriter whose enchanting voice and musical style succeeds in captivating her listeners worldwide. Lisa has a verified profile on Twitter so you know she’s ‘The Real Deal’!

Here is my ‘Spotlight Interview’ with Lisa May.

Trainer Z: Before we venture into the life and times of ‘you the person’ and ‘you the singer’; are there any events and/or projects you have coming up that we should be on the lookout for?

  • Lisa May: Hi, first of all, I want to say Thank You to theTZelement Magazine for interviewing me. I’m glad you asked about my upcoming projects because my newest single “Heat” along with an official music video is on its way, coming out in December. I don’t want to talk much about this, but “Heat” is my biggest hit, I can’t wait for everyone to finally hear it…

Trainer Z: What personal accomplishments are you most proud of?

  • Lisa May:
    1. Adopting a puppy and a rabbit; giving them a happy life.
    2. Helping the homeless. I’m that crazy human who’ll take her own blanket even if I had only one at home and gift it to someone who needs it more than I do.
    3. Achieving my career goal, they said I’d never make it, but I made it and I’m going stronger each day. So who’s laughing now?
    4. Moving on without certain people in my life. Even if I knew they were only hurting me, my love was stronger, but I realized if I wouldn’t let go, I wouldn’t be able to chase my dreams, they were only holding me back. Letting go is the hardest part right?
    5. SMILES.

Trainer Z: What’s the best personal advice given to you, and by whom?

  • Lisa May: My mother said to me once “Never look back, living in the past will only take away the light from your future” … She knows that memories are my worst enemy. She said to me “If it has no continuation, it’s not worth your time” … She’s the most positive person I know. I’m so dark sometimes, but the moment I was born, she promised she’d never let anyone hurt me and she never fails to bring light into my life. She taught me that we’re given each day to change our realities for the better because everything’s possible.

Trainer Z: As you know; our magazine is all about POSITIVITY. What positive message could you share with someone who’s struggling with self-esteem and/or social acceptance?

  • Lisa May: You don’t have to try hard. You don’t need anyone’s acceptance, because of friendships or relationships, or family. It all comes naturally, it all comes with love. If you have to try hard for someone to accept you, then they’re not worth your time. Don’t let anyone make you feel small when your heart is bigger than the earth. If you’re struggling, know that it’s not forever. Life is full of surprises and you never know what is waiting for you, so please don’t give up. We all get the chance to shine.

Trainer Z: What’s the best professional advice given to you, and by whom?

  • Lisa May: My grandmother told me not to trust so easily and not to care too much because when I care, I care too much, and when I trust, I trust too much. She said to think everything through a thousand times before I make a move. Some people are just passing by to take everything and leave.

Trainer Z: What first attracted you to begin your career as a singer and songwriter?

  • Lisa May: My first song that I wrote, I was 11; I didn’t even know I could write songs. One day I was playing my guitar and I just wrote a song, I think it’s a blessing from God and I know that I was born to do this.

Trainer Z: When, where, and what was the first song you remember singing before a crowd?

  • Lisa May: I was 7 when I first sang before a crowd in Georgia, it was a Georgian song but I don’t remember the exact title. Maybe someday I’ll show my fans my very first video on stage.

Trainer Z: Why do you feel that being a singer and songwriter is the ideal professional choice for you?

  • Lisa May: Because I’m happy, and because I can’t imagine my life without my music, and my fans. When something makes you happy, you don’t give up on it, I’d never want to give up on my music, and I’d never want to give up on my fans.

Trainer Z: What makes your musical style unique?

  • Lisa May: My songwriting, it’s something new. Something that comes from my heart and soul, I can’t explain it. My individuality.

Trainer Z: What song or album have you recorded and released that you feel is your signature song or album, and why?

    2. “Another Love” cover. Original song by the super talented singer and songwriter Mr. Piano Man Tom Odell; 9 million views and counting. I took his song and I sang it my own way; I’ve even changed some lyrics and made it more Lisa May.
